Job Description

ABOUT SLATE

At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Slate is seeking a servant-minded Senior Manager, Product Development FP&A to lead all aspects of Product Development FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and decision support across our fast-scaling organization. This role will be instrumental in establishing the financial planning infrastructure required to support capital-intensive vehicle development, prepare for production, and ultimately operate as a large automotive OEM.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

As Senior Manager of Product Development FP&A, you’ll partner closely with design, engineering, and supply chain leaders to bring clarity to costs, timing, and tradeoffs in a fast-moving environment. You’ll create and improve models, systems, and processes that enable better decisions, faster execution, and smarter investment. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, challenges assumptions, and is seeking to help build a world-class finance organization.

  • Own and track bill of material cost and product investment across vehicle programs, from early concept through launch.
  • Lead forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning for Product Development, covering both operating and capital expenditures.
  • Build and lead a high-impact Product Development FP&A team, scaling capabilities to support current programs and future growth.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Design, and Purchasing to align technical decisions with cost, timing, and investment priorities.
  • Deliver clear, actionable financial insights and report to senior leadership to support fast, informed decisions.
  • Design, improve, and scale financial systems, tools, and processes that increase transparency, speed, and discipline across product development.
  • Challenge assumptions, surface tradeoffs early, and ensure capital is deployed where it drives the most value.

| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 5-10 years of financial planning and analysis experience. Experience in product development finance preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Adaptive Insights) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

WHY JOIN TEAM SLATE?

At Slate, we’re fueled by grit, determination, and attention to detail. The start-up spirit of ingenuity and resourcefulness move our business forward. Team Slate fosters a culture of excellence, innovation, and mutual respect, and is motivated by shared principles.
