Job Summary:
Assist in directing Patrol department and managing day to day operations in conjunction with Vail Resorts ethics, mission, & goals. Assure Patrol is compliant with all national, state, & local regulatory agencies governing ski patrol. Communicate and cooperate with all Breckenridge departments to assure smooth operations at the Breckenridge Ski Resort. Assist in preparing and managing both operational and capital budgets. Ensures patrollers are trained and prepared to respond to all emergent situations at the ski resort.

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $70,000 - $83,000
  • Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2025/2026

Job Responsibilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of Ski Patrol operations including but not limited to: all medical, trails, scheduling, weather, training, avalanche control, snowmobile, risk management, accident investigation, and lift evacuation.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring budget, and help to prepare monthly forecasts
  • Assure patrol is well trained in medical rescue, lift evacuation, technical rescue, avalanche control, night search, risk management, Colorado Skier Safety Act, accident investigation, trail work, safety, and guest service
  • Effective working relationships both inter/intra departmentally
  • Assure Patrol is compliant with ATF, Colorado Department of Labor & USFS concerning purchase, storage, use, permitting & licensing of explosives.
  • Assures Patrol is compliant with all CPTSB regulations concerning lift evacuation.
  • Assure Patrol is compliant with Ski Patrol best practices
  • Assure Patrol is compliant with all state and local medical protocols.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate performance of supervisors
  • Schedules staffing for day-to-day operations and assures patrol huts are adequately staffed.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and decision-making skills
  • Works with Patrol to provide excellent guest service.
  • Oversee daily operations, coordinating with snow safety department, and other mountain operations departments to assure smooth operations. 
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years Patrol experience
  • 3-4 years Patrol supervisory experience 
  • CO Driver’s License
  • Microsoft Office and Teams proficiency
  • Must be fluent in all aspects of English language
  • Must have advanced level of skiing ability
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced level snowmobile operator
  • Outdoor Emergency Care or Wilderness First Responder

Preferred:

  • EMT
  • ICS 100 and 200

The expected pay range is $70,000 - $83,000. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
