Job Title: Surgical Assistant

Location: Cincinnati, OH 45219

Pay Rate: $50 – $55/hour (based on experience)

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Multiple Shifts available

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to support surgeons during complex procedures by providing direct intraoperative assistance. The ideal candidate will possess strong anatomical knowledge, excellent technical skills, and the ability to contribute effectively within a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in patient positioning as directed by the surgeon
• Provide optimal visualization of the surgical field via retraction, suctioning, and tissue manipulation
• Manage suture materials and assist with wound closure using a variety of techniques
• Apply appropriate wound dressings and assist in securing drainage systems
• Independently harvest veins, arteries, tendons, and perform tissue closure on applicable cases
• Maintain a sterile field and adhere to surgical protocols and safety standards
• Stay current on surgical technologies and techniques relevant to assigned specialty areas

Qualifications

Experience:

• Extensive knowledge of surgical anatomy and physiology
• Strong eye-hand coordination and ability to work on your feet for extended periods
• 4+ years of general surgical experience preferred, with 2+ years in a surgical specialty area

Education & Certification:

• Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program
  
  OR
• Foreign Medical Graduate with a minimum of 3 years of U.S.-based surgical assistant experience (case-by-case evaluation)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) – Required
• Preferred: NSAA, CFA (AST), or RNFA certified through the National Assistant at Surgery Certification (NASC)
